Sample Effortless English Lesson - Day of the Dead - AJ Hoge

Dear friends. Welcome to the Effortless English System™. You should already have Effortless English lessons now, so we want to tell you how to use them. We are very excited because soon you will speak English more effortlessly, right? If you do not know the right learning method, this article is believed by the community to be helpful for you!

In the following article, the community will summarize the basic learning steps to help you know how to approach the Effortless English program of teacher AJ Hoge. Just follow these simple steps and your English will definitely improve quickly.

After successfully logging into the Effortless English learning system, you open the Original Effortless English course (Automatic English Reflex), and select the first lesson called “Day Of The Dead”.

Instructions for 3 basic learning steps: 

+ Step 1. Main story section (Articles). This is the main content of the lesson. Includes 2 parts: Text (Story content), Audio (story audio file).

First, you listen to the Audio file and read the Article. Read and review it, but DO NOT LEARN IT. This is the main content of the lesson and the other lessons will revolve around this content, so you need to understand the content of the story.

*Note: you don't need to worry too much about this step, the only task is to read and understand the content of the story. Don't try to learn vocabulary or memorize in this part.
 

Try listening to the Audio part of the lesson Day of the dead:

+ Step 2. Vocabulary section. Teacher AJ Hoge's file explains important vocabulary (in bold in the A Text Article file) in English. This lesson will help you form the habit of memorizing vocabulary semantics in the way native speakers understand instead of the usual habit of translating into your mother tongue.

For this lesson, open the Audio section and listen to AJ Hoge explain. If you can't hear the whole content, you can open the Tapescript file next to it.

Try listening to the VOCAB lesson Day of the dead:

+ Step 3. Practice reflexes with MS (Mini-stories). This is the most important part. Used to help you practice your Listening and Reflexes.

The basic structure of each short story consists of 3 main elements:

• First, Aj Hoge will give a Statement (statement, declaration). The English sentence is in bold.
• Question: questions revolving around the proposition.
• Answer: the correct answer to the question.

What do you need to do? First, just LISTEN. Then LISTEN and press PAUSE after each question, answer each question LOUDLY in English, then press PLAY to continue. Don't worry if you don't understand everything. Don't worry about making mistakes. 

Try listening to the MS part of the Day of the dead lesson:

In the Mini-Story you only need to do 3 things:

• AJ Hoge will make a statement. After each statement, you just need to say “Ahhhh” or “Ohhhh”.
• AJ Hoge will continue to ask a question that you KNOW the answer to. ANSWER that question. You don’t have to answer in a full sentence. You can answer with just 1 or 2 words.
• AJ Hoge will continue to ask a question that you DON’T KNOW. GUESS it. Say your guess out loud right away. Similarly, you can answer with just 1 (or a few) words.

Saying the correct and exact answer is NOT IMPORTANT. The most important thing is SPEED. Try to answer as quickly as possible (remember, one word is best). Speed is your goal. You want your answers to be FAST and SHORT – this will be difficult at first. Okay. Use the PAUSE button.

Listen to this file 2, 3 or more times a day, for a minimum of 1 week (or more). Remember, the Mini-Story is the MOST IMPORTANT file in the Effortless English system. Listen to it as much as you can.

SOME SUPPORT FEATURES AND IMPORTANT NOTES:

1. How long does each Effortless English lesson take you?

The Effortless English learning system has a detailed schedule for 7 days, you just need to complete the activities for 7 days to be able to move on to the next lesson. Note, because Effortless English is a repetitive learning method, the activities in each day are the same.

2. How much time is enough to study each day?

For each activity you will see the 1x (study at least once) and 2x (meaning at least twice) note system.

3. How to track your learning progress?

After each activity is completed, click the tick button next to ✅, the system will automatically remember your learning progress each day. This will help you easily control the learning progress of each lesson and the entire course.

Most importantly– relax and smile as you listen to the lessons. If you don’t want to speak yet, its OK.   Effortless English is a “Listen First” system. Listening is most important.

It’s OK to just listen. You will improve quickly and automatically if you listen every day. That is the key. Listen to the lessons 1 hour (or more) every day.
